DIAN becomes the first Spanish company to obtain the REACH label for finished footwear

DIAN, a company specialised in the manufacture of occupational, sanitary, uniform and safety footwear, is the first Spanish company to achieve the REACH label for their EVA and EVA PLUS clog models in white. This certificate, issued by INESCOP, confirms that the companies or organisations to which the label is awarded comply with EU regulations to protect the user’s health and the environment.

As a result, the footwear manufacturer has become the first Spanish company to obtain the REACH label in the field of finished products. This label is issued and awarded by INESCOP, the Centre for Technology and Innovation applied to footwear, on the basis of the analyses conducted in its laboratories.

Experts from INESCOP’s laboratories indicate that this label has the purpose of identifying and giving visibility to those companies that in their manufacturing process do not use certain substances listed as hazardous, due to their negative effect on people’s health or the environment.

Dian, one of INESCOP’s member companies that has been manufacturing footwear in Spain for more than 30 years, has obtained the REACH label for its EVA and EVA PLUS clog models in white. This labelling ensures that both models do not contain or are within the limits of chemical substances prohibited or restricted by the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council, concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which comprises more than 100 different substances.

Regarding the EVA and EVA PLUS models, they are ultra-light, latex-free, anatomical and non-slip clogs that do not contain dyes or substances harmful to the skin health. They include lateral perforations to achieve and facilitate perspiration, thus avoiding the direct penetration of liquids or fluids into the clog. Finally, they incorporate a sole with microdots that massage to help stimulate blood circulation. They also have an insole that incorporates a fabric over polyurethane foam with antibacterial treatment and activated carbon. These shoes, undoubtedly aimed for health professionals, take care of the feet of those workers who are usually in the workplace for many hours.

From Dian, they assure that being awarded the REACH label represents for the company a significant step in the fulfilment of their goals, since their main purpose is to be able to protect the worker’s health as well as the environment.
