INESCOP participated in the conference on Enabling Technologies: Products and Manufacturing Processes organised by REDIT
The automation and robotics area of INESCOP participated in the conference on Enabling Technologies: Products and Manufacturing Processes, which is part of the courses organised for companies in 2022 by REDIT.
Alexis Azorín, a technician in the Automation and Robotics department of INESCOP, presented the paper ‘Artificial Vision and Robotics’ where, after a review of different technologies related to 2D and 3D artificial vision, he reviewed some real applications developed by INESCOP in the field of digitisation and path calculation for the application of surface treatments.

At the same time, INESCOP presented the progress of the SOFTMANBOT project, in which INESCOP is participating together with 10 other European partners, developing industrial solutions in sectors as diverse as tyres, toys, textiles and footwear. In the latter case, work is being done on the robotisation of sole demoulding tasks with the industrial partner PLASTINHER URBAN.
Intelligent and multifunctional materials
The Advanced Materials department has presented the lecture ‘Intelligent and multifunctional materials’. There, a review of the different technologies capable of imparting new functionalities to materials was carried out, where real applications developed in different projects in which INESCOP participates were also shown. Among the projects presented were RECYGLUE II and GREENMATSHOE II, funded by IVACE and ERDF funds.
GREENMATSHOE II presented the need to use innovation in processes for the development of new, more sustainable upper materials based on cellulose fibres from biomass waste. RECYGLUE II showed the benefits of using enabling technologies to develop new 'smart' adhesives capable of losing their adhesion properties when required. This functionality facilitates the recycling of components and contributes to improving the sustainability of footwear.
